‘Not your average playgroup!’

Welcome to Camberwell Structured Playgroup, one of the longest-running playgroups in Victoria!

Established in the early 1980’s by a co-operative of parents who wanted to give their kids more play in their day, it’s a community that has been coming together for over 40 years, full of families that have become friends. It is your local not-for-profit playgroup, still run by a volunteer committee made up of parents of our playgroup community.

CSP nurtures the well-being of both adults and children in a safe and supportive environment.

Unlike most other playgroups, CSP is a ‘structured playgroup’. The early childhood-experienced facilitator sets up and provides open-ended play experiences where children can bring their own creativity and explore materials in their own way. Parents/carers are present to support and guide their child(ren) through the session.

CSP encourages children to learn and develop through play, offering play experiences that are: 

• Child-centred and non-competitive;

• Supportive of shared play and focused on building skills and self-esteem;

• Self-expressive through art, crafts and construction.
